Best & Brightest (Class of 2022)
One of our prestigious son Chike Okonkwo – Son of Vincent & Amril Okonkwo graduated top of his class from the Carlson School of Management, and for the first time in history was one of the two students in the entire school awarded the prestigious “Tomato Can Loving Cup Award” on May 16th, 2022. This is the most prestigious award the Carlson School of Management can bestow on an undergraduate student.
Chike tenaciously worked as a student ambassador, mentored, and represented minority students. He strived to make a permanent and continuous difference for people of color through the school’s Emerging Leaders of Color Program. He tirelessly served on the Dean’s advisory workgroup on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
For all his works and more, Chike Okonkwo was one of the 100 students in the Country to be named “2022 Best and Brightest Business Majors” by Poets&Quants.

ANAM Partners with Feed My Starving Children to Cater for Starving/Less Privileged Children:
On September 1, 2023, a group of 19 ANAM members volunteered at the Feed My Starving Children organization in Coon Rapids, MN. They spent three hours packing meals for children in need around the world. Some of them even took paid leave from work to participate in this humanitarian cause.
The result of their hard work was impressive: they packed 45 boxes of meals, which contained 25,920 servings of food. This amount of food can feed 71 children for a whole year. The total cost of the food was $7,516.80.
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals to children in over 70 countries. They rely on volunteers and donations to make their mission possible. ANAM is proud to partner with them and support their vision of ending hunger.
We want to thank all the ANAM members who joined us for this event. You showed your dedication and compassion for others. You also represented ANAM well by wearing your uniforms. Anambra Man Receives “The Presidents Volunteer Award”
Anambra man, Mr Kallys Albert SR who is currently based in Minneapolis in the United States of America, has received President’s Volunteer Service Award from the government of United States.
Mr Albert who is an Indigene of Uli in Ihiala local government area of Anambra State was given the award following his voluntary service to fellow Americans and those most in need in his community.
A copy of the award which was signed by the White House, Kallys was hailed for his many hours of service.
He was commended for strengthening the bonds of cooperation and trust that bring people together, while helping to address some of the greatest challenges in America.
Part of the statement in the award reads, “Congratulations on receiving the president’s volunteer service award.
“On behalf of a grateful Nation, I thank you for your service to your fellow Americans and those most in need. Through your dedicated service you have ensured the continuation of America’s unparalleled commitment to improving the lives of others.
“Over this past year, you have served as a model of the American spirit. Your many hours of service had strengthened the bonds of cooperation and trust that bring people together, while helping to address some of the greatest challenges of our time.
“One of our Nations greatest strength remains the compassion of our everyday citizens who give so willingly of themselves and their lives for the benefit of others. Each generation of hard work and kind hearted volunteers helps to write a new chapter of American greatness, and our Nation is proud for your commitment to this honourable tradition.
“As we reflect on your many acts of kindness and charity over this past year, our Nation draws inspiration from those who answer the call to help their communities and our Nation. With your continued effort to build on our Nation culture of service, America will proudly remain a land of freedom and opportunity for all.
“Thank you for your enduring commitment to serving your community and our Nation. I trust that you would continue to work for the betterment of others and an even stronger future for the American people.”
Meanwhile, Mr Kallys Albert who was a former Biafran soldier said that voluntary community service has been part of his life.
According to Albert, he taught micro soft suite, paralegal and English as second language voluntarily in area schools in the United States which however, led to the President’s Volunteer Service Award he received from the government of United States.
He said, “I may be wrong, right or uncertain. I believe in assisting where I can without regards to race, ethnicity or nationality. I have lived on such believe all my life.
“Dedicating my life 1967 through 1979 for my people, their survival and existence, excelled and became the Biafra army quarter master 4th commando old Umuahia. My trajectory of community involvement saw conferment of the commendation you saw attached to this write up.
“Teaching micro soft suite, paralegal, English as second language in area schools culminating to above recognition. Community service PRO BONO is my given benevolence from the almighty God right from youth”.
